Lukoil Files Plan to Revive Brick Gas Station

Lukoil has submitted an application to the township’s zoning board, seeking variances required to revive a gas station that has been inactive for years.

The company filed the application last week for the station at 2225 Route 88, located at the corner of the state highway and Jordan Road. Lukoil said in its application that it is seeking to convert an existing 1,212 square foot building on the site to a convenience store, replace the eight existing fuel dispensers with six new dispensers, and add diesel fuel dispensers to the station. The application also covers modifications to the walkways at the site.

The variance relief from the zoning board is required because the gas station and car wash components of the site are not allowed in Brick’s B2 zone, where the station had already existed as a non-conforming use. A minor variance is required because the site encompasses 1,869 square feet in floor area where 2,000 square feet is required.

The case will be heard at the Zoning Board of Adjustment’s June 1 meeting, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the township municipal complex.
