The Brick Township council unanimously voted Tuesday night to appoint Richard Dyer and Stanley F. Schick as commissioners to the township\u2019s Housing Authority board.<\/p>\n

Dyer and Schick will replace Vera Fozman, the board\u2019s most recent chairwoman, and Dolores Lunetta-Radice, both of whom recently resigned.<\/p>\n

Fozman, the wife of Councilman Jim Fozman, declined to say why she resigned from the board when asked by a reporter; Lunetta-Radice could not be reached. Dyer is the husband of Susanne P. Dyer, who was a Democratic candidate for Brick Township council in 2005. He is also a county committee member for the Democrats. Schick is also a Democratic county committee member.<\/p>\n

Besides the appointed commissioners of the Housing Authority board, its administrative staff has been in flux for some time. Earlier this year, Fozman and some of the other commissioners on the board were supporting a plan to appoint Victor Cirilo, 38, as authority executive director. Cirilo, who serves as a Democratic city councilman<\/a> in West Orange, Essex County, was supposed to split his time between Brick and his other job as housing authority executive director in Passaic. Under the plan, Brick would have paid $50,000 to the Passaic authority, with Cirilo working in Brick two days per week and three days in Passaic.<\/p>\n

But the plan never panned out, sources said, which likely led to the turmoil among the commissioners.<\/p>\n

Brick\u2019s housing authority has been without an executive director since 2012. Previously, former Republican Councilman Anthony Matthews was being groomed for the position, but was never appointed. Nancy Nicholson is currently serving as acting executive director while Matthews is the authority\u2019s maintenance supervisor.<\/p>\n

The housing authority operates a number of apartment buildings off Chambers Bridge Road containing units available for lower-income and disabled residents.<\/p>\n
