{"id":381,"date":"2014-08-13T21:13:03","date_gmt":"2014-08-14T01:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shorebeat.com\/brick\/?p=381"},"modified":"2014-08-13T21:47:48","modified_gmt":"2014-08-14T01:47:48","slug":"fun-at-the-feast-italian-festival-kicks-off-epiphany-parish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/brick\/2014\/08\/fun-at-the-feast-italian-festival-kicks-off-epiphany-parish\/","title":{"rendered":"Fun at the Feast: Italian Festival Kicks off at Epiphany Parish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Epiphany Parish\u2019s Italian Feast of the Assumption at the Jersey Shore continues in its third year in Brick.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg_displayed_gallery mceItem\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shorebeat.com\/brick\/nextgen-attach_to_post\/preview\/id--414\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Epiphany Parish in the township\u2019s Herbertsville section kicked off its third annual Italian Feast of the Assumption at the Jersey Shore on Wednesday, featuring rides, games and rows of Italian food vendors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s modeled after the ones in Hudson County, all of the old fashioned feasts in Jersey City, Hoboken, such as St. Ann\u2019s in Hoboken, Assumption in Bayonne, St. Bridget in Jersey City,\u201d said Joe Mignone, one of the feast\u2019s organizers.<\/p>\n<p>The Roman Catholic parish had hosted a small carnival for many years, but in 2012 looked to make a change. It began, Mignone explained, with expanding food offerings and grew from there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe decided to bring in food vendors, all of whom were Italian, and it really just evolved into an Italian festival,\u201d Mignone said.<\/p>\n<p>The feast runs every night through Saturday and also features entertainment, including <span class=\"userContent\" data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;K&quot;}\"><span class=\"text_exposed_show\">The Elderly Brothers<\/span><\/span>, an oldies group, performing on Thursday. Friday night features c<span class=\"userContent\" data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;K&quot;}\"><span class=\"text_exposed_show\">omedian Eric Tartaglione and on Saturday, the Italian feast goes Irish with <span class=\"userContent\" data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;K&quot;}\"><span class=\"text_exposed_show\">Mike Byrne and Devrin Academy Dancers<\/span><\/span> performing in the afternoon.
