(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>Just over two months since the township appointed a chief financial officer to replace Scott Pezarras, who retired, Mayor John Ducey will make a new appointment to the position.<\/p>\n<p>Maureen Laffey-Berg, who had served as Pezarras\u2019 deputy, is up for an appointment to the position at a township council meeting Tuesday night. She will presumably replace\u00a0John Clifford, who was appointed to the position Aug. 9.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Ducey touted Clifford\u2019s experience in the private sector as one of the reasons he was selected for the job. Clifford had also served as CFO of Middle Township in Cape May County.<\/p>\n<p>There was no confirmation as to why the position had reopened. At the time of his hiring, the mayor and council faced some blowback from political rivals, who cited\u00a0a personal bankruptcy in Clifford\u2019s past.<\/p>\n<p>Clifford was appointed to a four year-long term of CFO, with a starting salary of $100,000.
