(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>Just over two months since the township appointed a chief financial officer to replace Scott Pezarras, who retired, Mayor John Ducey will make a new appointment to the position.<\/p>\n<p>Maureen Laffey-Berg, who had served as Pezarras&#8217; deputy, is up for an appointment to the position at a township council meeting Tuesday night. She will presumably replace&nbsp;John Clifford, who was appointed to the position Aug. 9.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Ducey touted Clifford&#8217;s experience in the private sector as one of the reasons he was selected for the job. Clifford had also served as CFO of Middle Township in Cape May County.<\/p>\n<p>There was no confirmation as to why the position had reopened. At the time of his hiring, the mayor and council faced some blowback from political rivals, who cited&nbsp;a personal bankruptcy in Clifford&#8217;s past.<\/p>\n<p>Clifford was appointed to a four year-long term of CFO, with a starting salary of $100,000.
